TwistDire - Backstory

Timeline:

Prophecy recited:

“When the Dark Lord rises again,
Wielding his cane.
The lord’s plans,
Will come together in his hands.
He’s tyrants grip,
Like a sharpened whip.
Widens the crack,
On the Boy’s plaque.
Breaking the people’s spirit. “

The Birth of King Samuel Fitzroy. Avengers of Pelor founded and King Samuel is assassinated. Duke Jonathan Fitzroy rises to power. Avengers of Pelor infiltrate Academia Necrotica and obliterate it, although key members escape persecution. Rumours of undead army gathering in the Wilds to the East. The Duke becomes well-liked by the people, and in particular the Noble caste. Undead army assault the Kingdom. Army of undead took down a lot of the manors and small outlying farms to the east, until it was at the Capital’s walls. And in the chaos, the Duke was brought close to death by the undead. In the short war, the Avengers of Pelor were destroyed to a few members. The Duke begins to rule the land with a tyrant’s grip. The people are taxed heavily, and are now preyed upon by deadly evils. Hordes of Zombies and Skeletons roam the lands and villages have formed militia groups and barricades to halt the advance, but it’s only a stop gap measure. People living off the land are in a constant fear of death/undeath and have to be vigilant. A lot of cities are not under direct control of the Duke, but only pay taxes to his Court. The cities provide protection from the roaming undead and are beacons of hope.
